Parish Ministry
A Salesian parish is a welcoming, missionary community that forms and educates by being centered on the Word of God, the Sacraments, and devotion to Our Lady.
Paroisse Immaculée Conception
Cité Soleil (Port-au-Prince)
Located in Cité Soleil, a neighborhood on the northern border of Port-au-Prince, Immaculate Conception Parish serves one of the most marginalized communities in the country. The parish contains a parish center as well as three chapels situated throughout the neighborhood (St. Francis Sales, St. John Vianney, and St. Paul). A temporary structure stands at the former location of the church, which was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake, and money is being being raised to rebuild. The parish plays an important spiritual and social role for the community, and it is a significant aspect of the Salesian mission in Haiti.
Public Chapels
Pétion-Ville, Cayes, Thorland, Gressier and Cap-Haitien
Several of the Salesian communities, while not being official parishes, still play a significant role in the spiritual life of the general population at large. The Salesian communities at Pétion-Ville, Cayes, Thorland, Gressier and Cap-Haitien all provide public chapels where neighbors can come to pray and celebrate Mass on Sundays and on other occasions. Over 2,500 people regularly attend Mass at these Salesian communities.
