Graduation of 7 New “Trainers of Trainers”
On July 31, the Rinaldi Foundation celebrated the graduation of seven new “Trainers of trainers,” a small but important cohort of educators who are embarking on a mission to strengthen vocational schools throughout Haiti. This initiative is being realized through a partnership between the Technical Office of Salesian Vocational Training (BTFPSA) and the National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP) of Haiti with the support of Caritas as well as Jovenes y Desarollo of Spain. The project focuses on promoting Competency-based learning in vocational schools throughout Haiti in order to provide a more student-centered style of learning.
The certificate that the trainers received is the fruit of three years of hard efforts in which the seven graduates have endeavored to form teachers in competency-based learning. Supported by their instructor, Dr. Yannick Daoudi, a Canadian educational consultant, they have learned and shared techniques for reorganizing course content into learning modules as well as emphasizing the student as the primary agent in learning.
Among the seven graduates, three will support the centers of INFP (Clausel Fatal, Jean-Charles Néus, Frédérick Innocent), and four will provide training at the Salesian centers in Haiti (Joseph Rosner Laguerre, Joseph Soirilus, Pierre Antoine et Nalda Jean-Baptiste).
During the graduation ceremony, words were offered by Father Jacques Charles, the General Director of the Rinaldi Foundation, Madame Maguy Durce, the General Director of the INFP, as well as Dr. Yannick Daoudi and representatives of the graduates themselves.
Naldna Jean-Baptiste, one of the graduates who will continue to support the Salesian centers, stressed the need to provide quality professional training to the youth of Haiti. This requires competent trainers, qualified technicians and people concerned with the integration of young people into the workforce. In the years to come, the new graduates will dedicate themselves to ensuring that these conditions are met.
