Coronavirus: Kit distribution.
Solidarity is more than necessary.
2020 was a year of great panic, especially because of the irruption of Coronavirus in the country. It was time for action since nobody knew what to expect.
The Salesians, in a spirit of solidarity, through the Rinaldi Foundation, quickly took action to help the most vulnerable in society who are already exposed daily to various ills. This assistance consisted not only in raising awareness about the barrier measures to be adopted in order to avoid catching the disease and limit its spread, but also in distributing health and food kits so as to be able to subsist for a certain period of time and avoid unnecessary travel.
For this reason, thanks to the benefactors Don Bosco Jugend Eine Welt and Don Bosco Jugendhilfe weltweit, the Rinaldi Foundation was able to initially distribute kits to 2,250 families in five departments of the country where there is a Salesian presence (South, West, Artibonite, North, Northeast).
Aware that the problem still persisted and that short-term assistance was essential during this period of pandemic, Don Bosco Donor Jugend Eine Welt saw fit to finance a second project to distribute health and food kits in the western department, benefiting 777 families.
Each beneficiary received 2 kits: -a sanitary kit containing hydro-alcoholic gel, reusable nose pads, chlorine packets and soap.
- A food kit that includes: a bag of rice, bean pots, spaghetti bags, cans of salmon and oil.
The beneficiaries did not hide their joy in receiving the kits. They thanked the donors and the Salesians who showed so much humanity towards them.
